5 Things No One Tells You About Teenager Therapy
The mental health profession often operates under a shroud of mystery. You don’t ever get a lot of information about how the sausage gets made when it comes to the magic of therapy- how therapy actually helps teens feel better. This week I want to lift the veil and tell you 5 things that nobody will tell you about seeing a teen therapist.
Most people think therapy is all about telling your therapist your problems, and your therapist telling you what to do. They think that if nothing “bad” or “problematic” happened that week, they won’t have anything to talk about. Boy is this wrong!!
I don’t want that to happen to you.
My goal? To educate you so that you know exactly how therapy works and what you can expect when it comes to teens in therapy.
This is the inside scoop that only the people who know, know but I think it’s only right that you know too.
You can watch the #replay of my Facebook Live here: (or keep reading for the quick rundown)
Parents don’t get to know everything
Silent sessions are a thing
Parents and Teens may have COMPLETELY different goals for treatment
Teen may get angrier, before they get better
Group therapy may be a better fit for teens
What does all this insider information tell us? Well, it means the magic of therapy is a lot more complicated than most will make it out to be. It’s really hard to navigate without help. I’m not saying it’s impossible. People do it but the road is a lot longer than it has to be.
That’s why I created Teen Girls Therapy Group. I know the pitfalls of trying to get teens to connect with adults. I know all of those obstacles you’ll encounter on the way to a happier, healthier teen, which is why I’ve created Teen Girls Therapy Group. It’s for teen girls who want to stop letting their emotions control them and connect with others who get it.
