how to IMPROVE your Mental Health for 2021 with my best tips from 2020

You started out the year ready to roll in a new era of the roaring 20s- no clue of what was to come.

2020 has been a wild ride!

You've survived:

🌎 a global pandemic

🏡quarantine and shelter-in-place orders

👩‍💻remote learning and working from home

In the United States, we've seen the rise and recognition of the Black Lives Matter social justice movement- and that we still have a long way to go when it comes to remedying the wrongs created by discriminatory practices, mindsets, and systems that continue to exist today.

And through it all, you have survived and you have LIVED!

In this video post, I'm going to be sharing clips from some of the best mental health videos shared on this channel this year so you can get ready for a healthier and happier 2021!

Let's get you READY for 2021!! 🥳🎉

A DAY IN THE LIFE

One of the things that I ended up doing this year, which was a little bit different, is I actually shared with you a sneak peek, behind-the-scenes look at what happens in a day of a mental health therapist.

Believe it or not, it's not all fun and games.

COPING SKILLS 💛

This job can be really emotionally intense. One of the things that get me through the day is coping skills.

I LOVE COPING SKILLS!!

Here are just a few of my favorites that I've shared with you over this past year:

BREAKING THE STIGMA OF MENTAL HEALTH ✌️

One of my strongest missions is to BREAK THE STIGMA of mental health. It's one of the main reasons that I make these videos.

In fact, I've heard time and time again that some of the teens I work with were actually afraid to start talking with a therapist because of how we're represented in the media. So I decided to change that up:

(I may have had a little fun with this over the past year)

HOW TO TALK TO YOUR PARENTS

Even with breaking the stigma of mental health, I know it can still be quite difficult asking for help.

Which is why I created a whole series this year about how to talk to your parents about mental health issues that you're struggling with…

(+ how to get support and help from them, too!).

HOW TO TALK TO YOUR THERAPIST 👋

Once you've gotten that out of the way, and you do start working with a mental health therapist, sometimes it can be a little awkward knowing how to talk to them about serious issues- like suicidal thoughts or urges.

It is so important to KEEP TALKING about these things!

Please know that these are never one-and-done conversations.

and I can’t wait to keep these conversations going with you in 2021!!

I am SUPER CURIOUS….
