HOBERMAN SPHERE
You can use Hoberman Spheres to fidget with while you're talking about something.
It can expand and get smaller. You can actually get really big ones that you can physically step into!
One of the ways that I really like to use Hoberman spheres is to practice my deep breathing.
To do this, you will expand and contract the Hoberman sphere at the same pace as your breathing. You can also do the opposite like pretending that your outbreath is filling up the sphere.
This is just one more way to incorporate a sensation into your coping strategy which can amplify your progress.

BUBBLES
I don't know about you, but when I was a kid I used to wanna get the biggest bubble possible, and the way to do that is to practice your deep breathing.
If you don't have bubbles, you can imagine or pretend that you are blowing bubbles, too!
If you remember, the out breath is what enhances calming your nervous system, not the in breath. When you slow down that out-breath, you can get a really big bubble!
MINTS
If you've ever been in my counseling office, you would typically see little containers filled with Life Savers Mints.
What’s really nice about mints is that when you place one of them in your mouth, not only does it have a strong mint flavor (which has calming properties), it also makes you produce saliva- which can help calm down your nervous system.
So by eating a mint and allowing yourself to savor the taste, you're actually getting a double whammy on coping skills here!
